Gaining Energy Independence And Saving Money Through ESPCs

05/22/12

As the number one consumer of the world's energy, the United States government is making changes to upgrade its energy performance nationwide.  Last summer the Obama administration reconfirmed this commitment by continuing to award Energy Saving Performance Contracts (ESPC) to applicable projects. The partnership between a federal agency and Qualified Energy Savings Companies then begins, providing construction and design for a project to improve the facilities energy consumption.  In San Diego, an installation of solar systems reducing Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton's energy consumption by 44 percent, serves as a great example of an ESPC.
