In 2003, there were less than 100 homes with solar power. Today, San Diego is a national leader in solar with more than 100,000 homes and businesses powered by the sun.
While the monumental growth of solar power has received widespread attention across Southern California, less is known about recent advancements in both the economics and technology of solar power.
The San Diego Solar Experience has been launched to educate communities in San Diego on these latest advancements including the latest solar technology, the current "state of the state" regarding policy and incentives, investment options, and payback periods. The San Diego Solar Experience will be hosted by leading nonprofit environmental organizations the Climate Action Campaign and the Center for Sustainable Energy, in association with Sullivan Solar Power.
This one-day event will be held across San Diego County including Carlsbad, Poway and Chula Vista on Saturday, February 11. The San Diego Solar Experience will consist of seminars with presentations by Daniel Sullivan, president and founder of Sullivan Solar Power, and leading professionals from the Climate Action Campaign and the Center for Sustainable Energy. The times and locations of the seminars are listed below.
In addition, participants are invited on a self-guided tour in their community to view solar-powered homes and speak directly with homeowners about their experience of going solar. The homes can be viewed at any time between 10 am to 4 pm on Saturday, February 11 with further information on the home locations to be provided following an online RSVP.
Going solar is currently one of the most popular home improvements and is a great way to cut energy costs while reducing your family’s carbon footprint. The San Diego Solar Experience will provide information about how solar works and talk with local residents and energy experts who know about it firsthand – without any sales hype or pressure.
