Today more than 450 San Diego County residents are benefiting from Sullivan Solar Power's Cash Reward program. The incentive offers $0.20 per watt cash back up to $1,500 if a homeowner goes solar. Having already paid out more than $520,000, the San Diego-based company has announced that the program will come to an end on December 31, 2013. However, local households can still sign up for a spot in the program as long as it's done before 5 p.m. that final day.
"Sullivan Cash Rewards has been a game changer for residents who have wanted to go solar but thought it was too expensive," said Daniel Sullivan, founder and president of Sullivan Solar Power, "This program allows residents to declare energy independence for no money out-of-pocket, save money every month, and then, we are actually paying people to do it."
With the level of success so far, it is expected that up to the program's final day the company will return to the San Diego community more than $600,000.
