La Jolla Solar Power: UCSD Biomedical Sciences Building

Sullivan Solar Power was proud to design, build and install a 251-kilowatt solar power system for the Biomedical Sciences Building on the UCSD campus in 2014. The BSB is a six-story laboratory and research building located at the School of Medicine and also includes the Biomedical Library, where we also installed a solar power system as part of another project. The solar panel system we installed was ballasted mounted on the roof of the building and consists of 645 Sunpower panels and an Advanced Energy inverter, providing all the renewable energy the building needs.


This solar power installation by Sullivan Solar Power is part of the solar energy revolution and generating clean, renewable electricity for UCSD Biomedical Sciences Building. On average, each year a solar energy system this size will:

  • Generate 376,500 to 502,000 kilowatt hours of clean renewable solar power.
  • Avoid the creation of 622,480 pounds of harmful carbon dioxide released into our air.
  • Provide the system owner with $110,440 in Solar Power Savings.
