"Sean came out as well as two other vendors; overall, your price was competitive and parallel to that I thought that Sean did a good job as an overall project manager, not just a sales rep. I stay in touch with Sean frequently, we share trade journal articles and I try to keep abreast of the industry."

Solar Power FAQ

How long have you been in business?

We celebrated our 10 year anniversary in 2014. We are one of the first solar companies in the state of California. We’ve been entrusted to install residential solar power systems all the way to police stations, colleges, the military, and all sizes of businesses.

Do you have a warranty?

Yes, we warranty all our systems for at least 20 years. We not only warranty the parts but the craftsmanship as well. We also offer proactive monitoring at no extra cost, meaning if you system needs to be serviced, we’ll discover it before you do.

Who owns Sullivan Solar Power?

Sullivan Solar Power is privately owned by State Licensed Master Electrician, Daniel Sullivan. Being owned by an electrician instead of investors, speculators or shareholders, means the company is free to make decisions based on ethics and what’s right for the customer, not just what’s going to generate the most profit.

Why are you the only company who goes on the roof?

Without going on the roof, a solar salesperson can only make guesses and generalizations as to how your system needs to be designed. Shade readings need to be taken, obstructions such as a chimney or vents need to be noted, and the condition of the roof assessed. This can only be done by getting on the roof, and needs to happen before you sign a contract.

Should I wait until better solar technology comes around?

The short answer is no. Solar technology has changed little in the last 50 years and there is nothing new on the horizon to displace current technology any time soon. You could end up waiting 10 or 20 years for new technology that isn’t coming, and continue to pay high electricity bills in the meantime.

Does Sullivan Solar Power use licensed electricians?

Yes, in fact every single person on the roof installing your system is a State Licensed electrician. Not just the foreman, but everyone. This ensures not only the highest level of quality craftsmanship, but also the highest level of safety for our employees and the homeowner. This is nearly unheard of in the solar industry, but we insist on it.

What Types of Improvements Can I Make to My Property With PACE Financing?

Most improvements that can be permanently affixed to a property and reduce on-site electric, gas or water consumption will be considered eligible for PACE. For example, the financing is commonly used to add or improve rooftop solar power systems, attic insulation, heating, ventilation and air conditioning and low-flow toilets.

What’s the Best Term for a PACE Assessment?

PACE financing can be in place for as short as 5 years or as long as 20 years, but in general, a five- or 10-year loan term is best because those shorter terms offer faster pay back and mean less interest paid over the life of the loan.

Is the Principal and Interest on a PACE Assessment Tax Deductible?

Yes it is, depending on the type of financing you select. Some types of PACE financing allow the property owner to take a full deduction for the principal and interest paid. Others allow writing off the interest only. If you are considering PACE financing on your property, be sure to consult with a tax professional.

Can I Sell or Refinance My Property with PACE Assessments Attached?

Property with PACE assessments can be sold at any time, but the outstanding balance of the loans may have to be paid off before title to the assessed property can be transferred to a new owner. Check with your tax or real estate professional for advice.

What is PACE?

The Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) Program allows up to 10% of a property’s value to be financed for energy efficiency, renewable energy or water conservation upgrades. The financing creates an assessment lien on the property and is repaid as semi-annual installments on the property tax bill.

Mounting

Our mounting techniques allow us to install solar systems on almost any type of roof or ground conditions.

Maintenance of your Solar Power System

Occasional washing

Your solar panels will perform best when clean. Several times a year it is a good idea to rinse off your panels with a hose and wash away any dust, dirt and debris.

Watch for shading

Over the average 30 to 50 year lifespan of your panels, it is likely some of your trees will need to be trimmed to avoid casting shade on your solar system.

Inverter space

Make sure to leave some open space around your inverter as it contains electrical components and needs a small amount of ventilation.
