San Diego State University

San Diego State University has six Sullivan Solar Power systems installed on university buildings and facilities. The Associated Students of SDSU, the university’s student government, was the driving force moving SDSU toward renewable energy.

In 2009, the student government created the “Green Love Board” and increased student fees to fund efficiency and renewable energy projects. The first Green Love President, Erica Johnson, worked with Glen Brandenburg, SDSU’s Sustainability Director, to responsibly identify cost-effective solutions to reduce SDSU’s consumption of fossil fuels.

Through their combined efforts, SDSU has more than 1,000 kilowatts of solar panel installations and has established SDSU as a leader in the solar energy revolution of San Diego.
