California has more solar power systems installed than any other state. In June 2012, there were more than 115,000 solar power systems installed across the state, a large increase from the 500 installations thre were in the state in 1999. Any way you look at it, one thing is clear: The growth of solar power systems in California has been explosive.

In 2004, Sullivan Solar Power was founded in the garage of a San Diego home our founder Daniel Sullivan was rehabilitating. Mr. Sullivan also lived in this garage, since he did not have the financial resources to rent an apartment or office space for his budding solar power company.
Just one year later, Sullivan Solar Power leased its first 900-square-foot office space. Another year passed and the company moved into a larger facility. Sullivan Solar Power has continued to grow, resulting in the company being ranked as one of the fastest-growing solar firms in the United States for three years in a row by Inc. Magazine.
More than 12 years after the company was founded in a garage, Sullivan Solar Power is now headquartered in a modern 14,000-square-foot facility in San Diego. In less than a decade, the company has grown from a one-man operation to the top solar firm in San Diego -- the Solar Energy Capital of the United States. San Diego is now home to thousands of solar roofs and Sullivan Solar Power has installed more of them than any other company.
