Sullivan Solar Power was privileged to join an elite group of scholars, business leaders and policy makers at the UC Riverside Solar Energy Conference, held on February 27th through February 28th, 2019 at the Bourns College of Engineering. The fifth annual conference was organized by the Center for Environmental Research and Technology and focused on the connection between water and energy and the state of solar energy.

Those in attendance discussed the challenges and opportunities for incorporating solar energy and deploying microgrid systems in their communities. This included new statewide opportunities like community choice energy, state-sponsored rebates, and unique renewable energy initiatives already being implemented in cities such as Woodstock, Canada and Santa Monica, California.

Community Development Manager, Emily Padilla, had the opportunity to participate in a panel discussion, titled Financing Solar, where she briefed the audience on what Sullivan Solar Power has been doing to enhance solar adoption in Southern California and how it is making that adoption easier for commercial customers.

Ms. Padilla highlighted Sullivan Solar Powers’s advocacy work, both locally and in Sacramento, for rate and policy legislation pertaining to solar energy. Likewise, she shared Sullivan’s involvement with Community Choice Energy as a founding member of Community Choice Alliance in Orange County and San Diego. Ms. Padilla also introduced Sullivan’s recent solar panel installation at Petco Park, which was the largest solar installation on any major league baseball stadium in the nation.

“Spending two days listening to some of the greatest minds discuss the future of energy and energy storage was inspiring,” noted Ms. Padilla. “The world is in dire environmental need of not only this innovative technology, but the leadership to implement it. I left the conference feeling hopeful, determined and extremely proud of Sullivan Solar Power’s positive impact on our future generations.”

Those wishing to learn more about the future of energy storage can attend the upcoming Energy Storage Technologies & Applications Conference, to be held at UC Riverside’s Winston Chung Global Energy Center on April 11th and 12th, 2019, where Sullivan Solar Power will again be a featured speaker discussing the company’s impact in the energy storage sector throughout Southern California.
