They say everything’s bigger in Texas, but at least in the case of rooftop solar, it seems like Sin City now can have a thing or two to say about that claim.
According to a write up in PV Magazine, a huge 8.3mw solar array was installed this month on the roof of the Mandalay Bay Convention Center on the Las Vegas Strip. It features more than 26,000 modules, making it the largest rooftop solar installation in the United States.
The system reportedly has the capacity to power 25% of the power the Mandalay Bay resort and casino complex needs. If you’ve ever been to Las Vegas and see all the lights and slot machines running 24/7, you know how much electricity it takes.
