Poway Solar Power: Chinmaya Mission San Diego
Chinmaya Mission San Diego, founded in 2001, is a community center in Poway that hosts various programs for the local Hindu community. In 2014, Sullivan Solar Power was hired to design, build and install a solar energy system to power the Chinmaya Mission San Diego.
The 14.6 kilowatt-AC system is comprised of 72 Kyocera panels and three SMA inverters to convert the energy from the sun into usable electricity.
The solar panels and other solar equipment were mounted on the flat roof of the center's building.
On average, each year a solar energy system this size will:
Generate 21,972 to 29,296 kilowatt hours of clean renewable solar power.
Avoid the creation of 36,327 pounds of harmful carbon dioxide released into our air.
Provide the system owner with $6,445 in Solar Power Savings.
