St. Stephen's Catholic Church: San Diego Commercial Solar Power
St. Stephenęs Catholic Church in Valley Center declared energy independence with a solar shade canopy and roof-mounted solar power system. Sullivan Solar Power designed and installed the 71.9 kilowatt solar energy system, which will help the church save $616,343 over the next 25 years.
The system consists of 220 SunPower E20-327-COM panels and three SMA inverters.
St. Stephenęs was one of the first Catholic solar power projects to be financed through the Power Purchase Program and also one of the first four churches that were energized under –zero out of pocket” platform within the San Diego Catholic Diocese.
On average, each year a solar energy system this size will:
Generate 97,247 to 129,662 kilowatt hours of clean renewable solar power.
Avoid the creation of 160,781 pounds of harmful carbon dioxide released into our air.
Provide the system owner with $28,526 in Solar Power Savings.
